Happiness relies on checking in on your values. They are your unique interpretation of what is fair, what is true, and what your beliefs are - spiritual or intrinsic. Your values exist, whether you recognize them or not, and your day-to-day will become much easier when you start to acknowledge them.
Making plans and decisions that honor your values enables you to show up as your best self. As your personal definition of success changes with age, so do these values, which is why setting aside time to reflect on them is so crucial.
